Mass/Random BP Taking
As part of our initiative to combat the high prevalence of uncontrolled hypertension in our Barangay, we held a mass/random blood pressure taking at the Barangay Covered Court. In the afternoon, we observed some of the residents were holding a meeting in the covered court, and we thought that it would be the perfect opportunity for us to have a look at what was transpiring and bring out the best weapon for establishing rapport: Our sphygmomanometers and stethoscopes. Most of them had elevated blood pressure, so we took their names, age, and their home purok, for us to input them in our future master list, which would help us refer, diagnose, and monitor our hypertensive residents.
Barangay Assembly
During the Weekly Barangay General Assembly, we gathered all the Purok Presidents at the Barangay Hall. We presented to them the data we have gathered during our primary survey, the perceived problems of the community, and our plans for the community, mainly on our Top 3 Community Health Problems which tackles: The High Prevalence of Uncontrolled Hypertension, High Prevalence of Malnourished Children Ages 0-59 months old, and Decreased Immunization Rates Among Children 0-12 months old. Opinions, comments, and suggestions were solicited. Indeed, it was a fruitful discussion with the representative of the Lourmah community.
CHP Presentation at the Municipal Hall
Before finalizing and implementing our community health plans, we presented it in front of the Municipal Council. Our main goal is to solicit their opinions, whether our plans would not only be feasible to the community, but also be beneficial and sustainable. We also asked and hoped for their full support in whatever means they can give, for the betterment of not only Barangay Lourmah, but of the whole Mahayag.
As from the words of Mattie Stepanek, "Unity is strength... where there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved."
