What transpired during this week were catalysts for further change, impact and improvement for Barangay Lourmah and its people. A trip to Pagadian was a much needed step for the medical students as they tapped two (2) important institutions for the formulation and realization of their envisioned projects for both their Malnutrition and Solid Waste Management Community Health Plans.
The Department of Public Works and Highways was tapped in hopes to consult about the procurement of recycled roadside reflectors to be placed at the Purok 6 and 7 highways as the area had a reputation of being “accident prone”. Further insights, suggestions, and support in the manner of pledging to provide for needed materials and equipment (e.g., reflector tape) were made
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) was tapped for the realization of a 5 day Community-based training on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) for the Lourmah residents willing to learn this skill. This also will exercise the community’s self-reliance in solving their own health problems. This project was envisioned to be able to procure two (2) Materials Recovery Facilities (MRF) for the barangay as there is lack thereof. This will aid the proper collection and disposal of recyclable materials in the barangay.
The team held an audience with a vermiculture expert located at Barangay Lower Salug Daku in hopes to garner his insights regarding one of the best and cost effective waste to manage biodegradable wastes. The naturally enriched ambience of his little garden brings forth a sense of delight, amazement, and trust in the glory of vermiculture.
I don’t know when, I don’t know how, but I know something’s starting right now! Watch and you’ll see, someday I’ll be part of your world 🎶🎶 Truly spectacular Disney’s Little Mermaid was, and so was the whole backbreaking trip to Ozamis City
The team also conducted a monthly monitoring of the blood pressures of identified hypertensives for two (2) full days
And attending of Purok Meeting to emphasize our community projects were made
All in all, this was a very fruitful week for the team and Barangay Lourmah 🍃🌿
